Batman No More

So it looks like there will be a new actor taking up the cowl of the Batman soon. Although I agree that recent film adaptations of DC comics have been underwhelming at best, I'm a little sad to see him go and I think that the version of the Caped Crusader presented in Batman vs Superman was actually a solid representation of the character.

Don't get me wrong; the film was overstuffed, poorly paced, and otherwise deserving of all the aspersions cast at it. However, the DC universe version of Batman is one of the best in regards to action scenes. Nolan's Batman Begins series certainly elevated the character in an overall cinematic sense; but face it, the fight scenes, while competent, left something to be desire in spectacle. Snyder's Batman is filmed in such a way so the audience can truly revel in how powerful and dangerous Batman can truly be. He's athletic and energized where Christian Bale is clunky and stilted. Affleck's Batman also seems the closest in tone to Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, one of the most beloved incarnations of the character.

It's just a shame that the overall quality of the DC films have deprived us of a good interpretation of Batman. I hope the new version is still able to retain some of the positive aspects left in Affleck's wake.
